Job Title: Accounting Manager

Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Finance the Accounting Manager is responsible for assisting the Director of Finance to managing the organization’s day-to-day financial operations, including general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and grants management. This position ensures that the organization's finances are accurate, timely, and in compliance with GAAP and nonprofit-specific regulations. Seeking candidates with familiarity or experience in applying AI and automation technologies to streamline accounting operations and improve data analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Oversee daily accounting functions including AP/AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, journal entries.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and variance reports.
Monitor and track restricted, unrestricted, and temporarily restricted funds.
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and assist program managers with budget monitoring.
Coordinate the annual audit process and other regulatory documents in compliance with federal and state laws.
Prepares grant invoicing and processing of related paperwork.
Assist with special project as needed.

Strong knowledge of GAAP, fund accounting principles and Federal and State contracts.
Independent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
Excellent analytical, oral, and written communication and customer service skills.
Collegial and collaborative demeanor.
Experience with nonprofit compliance, grants, and donor-restricted funds.
Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines with a strong attention to detail.
Commitment to the mission and values of the organization
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or Master’s preferred)
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in nonprofit accounting.

Microsoft Office
Grant management systems
Proficient in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar.
Experience with AI-driven tools and automation in accounting processes strongly preferred

Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is between $77,00-$85,000. We offer comprehensive benefits including health and dental insurance, a 403b retirement plan, Paid Time Off (vacation, sick and personal days), long-term disability, child care assistance, and more.
